Key Stage 4 Curriculum

The curriculum is the subjects our students study within the year. Each year has different subjects depending on the child's age. At Furness Academy we follow a broad and balanced curriculum that adapts to the needs and aspirations of the individual.

The School Day

Our curriculum is made up of 6 x 50 minute lessons each day, starting at 8.40am with a 20 minute Form Group session. There is a 20 minute break from 10.40am to 11.00am and lunchtime is from 12.40-1.30 for all students, with a rota so that the same year group are not left until last each day.

The day finishes at 3.10pm when a program of extra-curricular activities take including a range of sporting activities, craft club and several revision and study classes for GCSE students, to mention a few.

Opportunities are planned and built into the curriculum to promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of students in all year groups across all subjects.
We also promote fundamental British values and build students' resilience to radicalisation as per the Prevent Duty. More details of this can be found in our safeguarding policy.
