Furness Academy Christmas Craft Fair01-Mar-2017
On Thursday 1st December, we held our fourth annual Charity Christmas Craft Fair. This event, organised by the Student Council and Student Voice, was a community event that helps raise money for our school charities
Each year we have raised anywhere between £1000-£2000 for our school charities, which this year are Team Jake and The Make a Wish Foundation. The two charities were chosen by our students. We chose Team Jake as our local charity as some of Jake’s relatives and friends are students at Furness Academy. Our national charity, The Make a Wish Foundation, was chosen by our students who are sadly becoming all too aware of how terminal illness can affect children their own age, so therefore they thought supporting this charity, which grants poorly children wishes, was an excellent cause.
We had nearly 50 stalls booked, a hand built Santa’s grotto and lots of crafts for sale. We had our best ever attendance of this craft fair which is brilliant. Our Choir were exceptional. Thank you very much to all the students and to Mrs Larcombe for making us feel so festive.
Our students sold lots of cakes, crafts, and badges and encouraged our visitors to take part in our tombola and raffle. We are very proud to state that we have raised £1500 to be shared between our school charities. The Student Council wish to thank everyone who supported the craft fair and we look forward to seeing you all next year
