ScienceGirls: Visit to Manchester Museum of Science and Industry31-Jul-2017
On Thursday July 6th 2017 the ScienceGirls from Furness Academy had a reward trip to Manchester where they visited Manchester’s Museum of Science & Industry. Arriving at the museum, the girls were free to explore all that the Museum had to offer with a short questionnaire Mrs Kitchin had prepared. The museum is divided into different areas ranging from the oldest surviving railway station, which opened in 1830, to the not yet quite finished Special Exhibition Gallery.
The girls were able to get lots of hands on experiences such as:
• An Earthquake Table
• Tornado Creator
• Cycling alongside a skeleton
• Lifting a Mini car with a turn of a handle and the use of gears
• Sound Beans
• Sensory Booths
• Light and Shadow experiments
• Density of liquids
• Magnetism Sound Tubes
All in all a great day out for the students and they still had enough energy on the way home to sing along to their favourite songs.
