Bay of Naples, Italy May 2019
A fantastic time was had by all.
In a packed and exciting schedule we managed to see many of the famous landmarks and sites in and around the Bay of Naples.
These included a visit to the Underground Tunnels in Naples, original built by the Romans as a way of storing and transferring water.
We climbed Vesuvius, peered down into the depths of the crater and watched the steaming vents, evidence that this volcano is still active!!
We then had time to explore the Roman cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, the cities destroyed by the most famous eruption of Vesuvius in AD79. The island of Capri and the town of Sorrento provided opportunities for us to explore traditional Italian towns and chance to taste that famous Italian pizza and of course we made time for a dip in the sea.
We ended our stay with a tour of the famous Amalfi Coastline, spectacular to say the least.
We are already planning our next visit!!
